Help with buying an electric car

Once virtually unattainable, the price of electric cars is starting to become increasingly affordable, but they are still above average. That's why the players in the energy transition have set up grants to help you buy one.

The ecological bonus

The ecological bonus is a subsidy that motorists receive for the purchase of a low-polluting vehicle. The aim of this state aid is to encourage the switch to clean vehicles.

Several vehicles are eligible for the environmental bonus, including :

  • electric vehicles (maximum prize of €47,000),
  • electric vans or hydrogen-powered vehicles,
  • Plug-in hybrid vehicles (autonomy > 50 km for a maximum price of €50,000).

The amount of aid is capped at 27% of the purchase price and can be up to €5,000 for 100% electric vehicles.

You can find all the conditions to be met, as well as the full scale, on our article on this subject!

What's more, the environmental bonus can be combined with the conversion premiumThis means you can benefit from two types of financial assistance for the purchase of a single vehicle!

The conversion premium

The aim of this financial aid is similar to that of the ecological bonus: to encourage motorists to opt for a more responsible mobility solution. However, the conditions and amounts of this bonus are different from those of the ecological bonus. We have vehicles eligible for the ecological bonus and the conversion premium :

  • electric cars,
  • Plug-in hybrid cars,
  • electric and plug-in hybrid vans.

However, other vehicle categories are also making their appearance:

  • internal combustion vehicles (Crit'Air 1 only),
  • motorised 2 or 3-wheelers or electric quadricycles.

This grant can be up to €6,000 if the conditions listed in our article on the conversion premium are met.

So, if you buy a new electric car, you can benefit from up to €11,000 in purchase aid, by combining the environmental bonus and the conversion premium. So you can reduce the cost of buying your vehicle, and enjoy a cheaper electric car.

Trade-in of your old vehicle

Vehicle trade-in allows you to sell your old vehicle in return for a sum of money (dry trade-in), or a reduction in the purchase price of your electric vehicle (trade-in with purchase).

The advantage of this option is that there are no eligibility criteria for your current vehicle to be taken back. So even the most polluting vehicles can benefit from the trade-in, to get them off the roads and improve the environmental impact of transport.

The 2023 zero-rate loan

Scheduled to come into effect on 1 January 2023 for a period of 2 years, this zero-rate loan is here to make it easier for you to buy a clean vehicle

You can benefit from this aid if you live or work in a low-emission mobility zone (ZFE-m), or if you are close to one.

All vehicles (electric or rechargeable hybrid) emitting 50 g/km of CO2 or less and weighing less than 2.6 tonnes will be eligible for this loan. Limited to €45,000 for a car (€60,000 for a van), this 2023 interest-free loan requires certain conditions to be met in order to be applicable.

This loan can also be combined with national and regional support for the purchase of an electric vehicle !

Regional aid

Finally, depending on where you live, you may be eligible for additional grants towards the purchase of an electric vehicle. In some cases, these grants can be combined with the ecological bonus and the conversion premium.

For example, the Île-de-France region offers assistance of up to €3,000 to companies in the region.

So, for the purchase of a new electric vehicle, with the ecological bonus (€6,000), combined with the conversion premium (€2,500), and regional aid (€6,000), your company saves €13,500 on the purchase!

Leasing offers for electric cars

Despite your desire to go electric, the purchase represents a substantial investment, which is why these leasing offers are made for you.

Whether you are a professional or a private individual, you can take advantage of the offers from leasing for your electric vehicles! Generally speaking, there are three different types of leasing you can take out:

  • Medium-term rental (LMD 6 months - only for Beev professionals!)
  • Long-term rental (LLD 1 to 5 years),
  • Hire with a purchase option (LOA of 48 months).

Beev can help you with your leasing project from A to Z, so don't hesitate to contact our experts, who will be delighted to help you!

This option allows you to benefit from electric car without paying the full purchase price. For example, thanks to the LMD (medium-term leasing) you have the opportunity to see whether this type of vehicle suits you and whether you get used to it. Or, if you want to be a long-term owner, but don't have the necessary funds at the moment, the LOA (lease with purchase option) could be for you!

In addition, as acompaniesyou earn the right to other additional benefits:

Good to know: the ecological bonus and the conversion premium also apply to clean vehicles leased!

Lease an electric car

Our leasing offers

To discover: other alternatives

After purchase subsidies and leasing offers, there are still more ways for you to enjoy an electric vehicle. From social leasing to converting your old vehicle, we explain everything!

The €100 special offer?

Another leasing offer is waiting for you - well, almost! This social leasing scheme, aimed at the most modest households, was proposed by Emmanuel Macron in 2022, but has not yet been implemented.
The aim of this scheme would be to facilitate the energy transition and make it accessible to all citizens.

The rent for this social leasing scheme will be fixed at €100/month, and will be aimed at certain categories of people. Eligibility criteria will be based on occupation, income, age, etc.

An electric car for €100/month is a planned project, but no effective date has yet been announced.

Retrofitting

Finally, you have the option of going electric while keeping your old vehicle, a process known as retrofitting. It's an option that will delight the most nostalgic among you.

This sustainable mobility solution allows you to change the original mechanics of your vehicle, to fit an electric motor and a battery. However, this work must be carried out by a qualified professional, in compliance with specific specifications.

You'll need to spend between €15,000 and €20,000 for this conversion. As well as the low price, you'll get an environmentally-friendly vehicle, and you'll also be able to take advantage of a number of other benefits:

  • free parking,
  • reduced running costs,
  • the absence of traffic restrictions...

The battery: the heart of your electric car

In general, the Lithium-ion battery is the most expensive component (it can represent more than a third of the price of the vehicle) in a electric carAnd yet it's the central matrix of your vehicle.

Buying: advantages and disadvantages

Of course, you can buy your battery at the same time as your electric carThe purchase price will include the cost of your vehicle and its battery. Here are the advantages and disadvantages.

The benefits:

  • you are the full owner of the battery,
  • this solution is financially attractive in the long term (no rent to pay).

Disadvantages:

  • if your electric vehicle has a technical problem, any replacement will be at your expense,
  • at the end of the manufacturer's warranty on the battery, it is not possible to replace the battery free of charge.

Getting the most out of your battery

The costs associated with your electric car also depend on how you use it, and that's where the battery comes in. In fact, beyond the average lifespan of a battery (between 10 and 20 years), a few simple steps can save you from possible repairs or early replacement.

The tips listed below will protect your battery, which will lose capacity more slowly. We therefore advise you to pay close attention :

  • the car's equipment,
  • at the cost of your vehicle,
  • the adoption of eco-driving,
  • regenerative braking,
  • regular use of your car...

The charging network: a financial opportunity

Finally, having access to an established recharging network saves you a considerable amount of time and money. Say goodbye to stress and endless calculations of journey times and recharging costs... But that doesn't mean you shouldn't plan ahead to recharge your vehicle.

We recommend that you start by checking whether your workplace has charging facilities, so that you can charge your car while you're at work. Some employers offer free charging, others will charge you, but often at a bargain price!

What's more, the LOM law (law on the orientation of mobility) requires buildings to be pre-equipped and equipped with recharging solutions.

Add to this the fact that more and more shops are making charging stations for their customers in their car parks. So you can recharge your vehicle while you do your shopping.

Finally, these solutions enable you to avoid installing charging stations at home, because the electric vehicles currently on the market allow you to drive to work and back without recharging. So you can start by recharging your vehicle with a type 2 cable, which charges your car, but this takes longer than with a type 2 cable. charging point.

It is therefore advisable to install a charging point at home over the long term. But don't panic, there is also funding available.
Beev is here to help you your bollard installation projectSo don't hesitate to contact us!

In a nutshell

So, depending on your needs and capabilities, there are a number of options available to you.
