From 1 September 2021Reims is actively promoting the use of electric vehicles to reduce pollution and improve air quality, thanks to its Low Emission Zone (ZFE). With this in mind, the city has installed ten charging points for electric vehicles in various car parks, offering 34 charge points at 16 sites. In response to the law on the orientation of mobilityOn 14 September 2023, Greater Reims drew up a master plan for the development of recharging infrastructure. The aim of this plan is to assess future needs, identify strategic locations for charging stations and estimate the investment required, with a rebate rate of 75 % of connection costs until the end of 2025.
Levallois-Perret is part of the Greater Paris. It has set up a Low Emission Zone (ZFE), the main objectives are to reduce negative emissions, encourage the use of electric vehicles, and improve air quality.

Assistance for buying an electric car in Reims as a private individual
Assistance from the Grand Est region
You can get up to €6,000 in assistance for your electric car if you live in the Grand Est region. This aid from the Grand Est is reserved for the purchase of electric vehicles.
Ecological bonus
The ecological bonus remains unchanged in 2024! It is still €5,000. This bonus is deducted directly from the price of the vehicle by the leasing company or dealer.
Conversion premium
You can also take advantage of the conversion allowance of up to €8,000, depending on your household income. The conversion allowance is government aid for all French people to buy a new, less-polluting diesel, petrol, electric or rechargeable hybrid vehicle, whether second-hand or new.
What are the conditions for receiving regional aid from the Grand Est region?
The purchase of your electric vehicle must meet the following criteria:
- leasing with a purchase option (LOA) and long-term leasing (LLD) are eligible for regional aid,
- live in one of the communes in the Low Emission Zones (ZFE) in the Strasbourg and Reims areas,
- the electric vehicle must be purchased from a professional in the Grand Est region,
- the electric vehicle must not be sold within 12 months of acquisition.
What is the amount of regional aid?
The amount of the regional grant is means-tested:
- for a reference tax income per unit of less than 6 300 €aid can reach 6 000 € for the purchase or hire of an electric vehicle (up to 60 % of the cost including VAT),
- for a reference tax income of between €6,300 and €13,489the aid is 4 000 € (ceiling between 40 % and 60 % of the cost including VAT),
- for a reference tax income of between €13,489 and €21,000is 2 000 € (ceiling between 40 % and 60 % of the cost including VAT).

To buy a new electric car, you need to make sure that you meet the conditions for obtaining a loan, long-term hire (LLD) or lease with option to buy (LOA).

- You have completed your trial period
- You have a regular income to cover the monthly repayments

Documents required for private individuals
The documents you need to apply for a credit or a LOA/LLD for your electric car:
- A copy of your last three payslips. If you are retired or self-employed, you will be asked for your last one or two tax notices.
- A copy of your identity document, either a National Identity Card or a valid passport.
- Proof of address less than 3 months old. This could be a gas, electricity or telephone bill (even a mobile phone bill), a rent receipt or a property deed.
A bank details form (RIB). - A signed and completed cheque for the first instalment of your rental schedule. Payment of the first instalment will only be made on receipt of the vehicle.

How do you calculate your debt ratio?
The debt ratio must not exceed 33% of net household income. In other words, a banker or banking institution will only accept your application if you can prove that your fixed costs do not exceed 33% of your net income.
