Installing a charging station: intangible benefits

Before discussing the financial return on investment of charging stations, it's clear that their installation can generate a host of benefits for professionals. Whether you're a craftsman, a self-employed professional or the head of a small or medium-sized business, such equipment will bring you many indirect benefits.

An additional opportunity to build loyalty among employees... and customers

Regardless of the number of employees working alongside you, the provision of charging stations will certainly be appreciated, especially if your fleet comprises a majority of electric vehicles. It's much more convenient to recharge your car at work, during office hours. You can of course offer this service to your visitors, for a fee. Your customers will certainly be delighted to have an additional recharging space, giving them greater autonomy on their travels.

Time... is money!

Even if you only own a commercial vehicle, such as an electric van for example, having a charging station installed on site can save you precious time and improve your productivity. You'll no longer have to plan your trips around the public charging points available nearby. Small and medium-sized businesses with a fleet of electric vehicles have every interest in offering an appropriate recharging system to avoid any risk of downtime for their employees.

Recharging stations for employer branding

Deploying one or more charging stations within your company can also help you improve your image, while consolidating your CSR POLICY (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy. Whether you're recruiting new talent or canvassing, this equipment will be synonymous with modernity and sustainability. Your employees, prospects and customers will be fully convinced of your commitment to the environment, as opposed to traditional greenwashing strategies of your competitors!

Charging station for businesses: what budget should you expect?

The price of an IRVE for an entrepreneur or small business depends on a number of criteria, such as the number of bollards to be installed, their power rating, functionalities and associated services (monthly supervision, annual maintenance). The technical specifications of the installation, such as the configuration of the site and the distance between the location of the bollard and the electrical panel, also influence the final price. On average between 1,500 and 6,000 euros for the deployment of a bollardincluding installation.

Alternatively, it is also possible to rent rental of charging stations for projects costing more than 5,000 euros. Beev offers formulas to suit your budget, over 36 or 60 months, with or without an increased first rent.

A system that quickly pays for itself

Investment in an IRVE makes all the more sense in the context of the forthcoming ban on the deduction of business expenses relating to company vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. This will apply to all fossil-fuelled vehicles purchased by a company after 2026.

On the other hand, nothing prevents a company from making its charging stations available to the public, in return for a financial contribution. Paid recharging, in this context, enables the equipment acquired to pay for itself more quickly, thanks to the return on investment.

Good to know: the terminal supervision system automatically obtains consumption data to simplify billing, regardless of the business model chosen.

Beev offers you turnkey solutions to establish consumption and/or facilitate recharging for your employees and visitors. Discover our supervision service and the advantages advantages of the Beev recharge card !

Assistance and tax exemption schemes

For several years now, the French government has been supporting companies' eco-mobility through the creation of a number of schemes designed to accelerate the deployment of charging stations for electric vehicles: financing assistance, reduced VAT or tax credits. However, the conditions for granting subsidies and the amounts involved are likely to evolve in line with new regulations: 2023 will see the end of or changes to certain subsidies.

The ADVENIR program for businesses

It is based on a number of financial aids, subject to varying scales and ceilings, depending on the uses and audiences concerned.

The program Charging point for fleets and employees

This bonus ended oner January 2023 It applied to companies wishing to install recharging stations in their private parking lots, dedicated to recharging their fleets and made available to their employees. However, it is still valid for certain categories of companies specializing in automotive services, such as vehicle rental companies (short-term rentals).

In this context, the program has been renamed Charging point for fleets and employees of automotive service professionals. It covers the deployment of recharging stations for the company's fleet, as well as for employees. It provides a 25% subsidy (supply and installation), up to a maximum of €750 (excl. VAT) per recharging point.

The program Charging point open to the public in a private parking lot

The scheme will continue in 2023 for companies with private parking lots accessible to the general public (visitors, customers...).

Please note: as of February 1, 2023, the amount of the subsidy has been reduced from 50% to 30% of the price of the installation, excluding VAT. The aid is capped at €1,000 for an AC (alternating current) supply, all power ratings combined, and €2,700 excluding VAT for a DC (direct current) supply, also all power ratings combined. In addition, this subsidy and that for the intermediate target will end on August 1, 2023.. If you would like to take advantage of these subsidies before they expire, please contact us.

Good to know: depending on the situation of the company making the request, it is possible to choose the highest premium. For example automotive service professionals who have a private parking lot open to the public can receive a subsidy of 50% of supply and installation costs, instead of 25% under the "fleet and employees" program. The maximum subsidy varies between €1,700 and €15,000 plus VAT. The ADVENIR bonus can be combined with existing regional subsidy programs, where applicable.

Benefits in kind and recharging stations: the scheme has been extended until the end of 2024!

The benefits in kind (BNI) are goods or services granted to employees free of charge or for a small fee. Since 2019, the benefit in kind arising from the free use of charging stations made available to employees by a company has been subject to a preferential treatmentsince it is considered to be nil. Initially due to end on December 31, 2022, this advantageous scheme for employees has been extended to December 31, 2024. The decree of December 26, 2022 sets out distinct conditions for exemption based on two scenarios: installation of the terminal at the employee's home, or access to terminals deployed on the company's site. In all cases, renewing the NEAs for the installation of an IRVE can significantly improve your company's attractiveness and increase employee loyalty. It's a great way to contribute to the energy transition, while encouraging your employees to go electric!

Regional subsidies

Some regions offer subsidies for the financing of recharging stations for entrepreneurs and small businesses. The aim of local authority subsidies is to encourage the deployment of green mobility on a regional scale. For the moment, they are limited to the Grand Est, Normandy and Occitanie regions.

Program to support theinstallation of charging stations for businesses in the Grand Est region

The Grand Est region covers up to 50% of the cost of the charging station and its installation, up to a maximum of €1,000 per charging point. Eligible companies are :

  • Companies registered with the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés (RCS) in areas with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants, who make their recharging infrastructure available to their employees and/or the public.
  • Establishments in the tourism sector (hotels, restaurants, etc.) that make their recharging infrastructure available to their customers.
  • Associations.

Normandy region's "Sustainable Mobility" program

The Normandy region is offering financial assistance for electric vehicle charging stations for VSEs/SMEs or ETIs (Entreprises de Taille Intermédiaire) with fewer than 5,000 employees. The subsidy covers 50% (excluding VAT) of the cost of supply and installation. The maximum grant is €25,000.

The Occitanie region's "Flexitanie" program

Launched in 2020 in partnership with ADEME and EDF, thethe Occitanie region's ambitious eco-mobility program offers financial support to businesses and self-employed people wishing to install intelligent V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) charging stations. Assistance is capped at €3,000 per charging point, and limited to the 50 ready-to-install charging stations currently available in the region. The program has been renewed for 2023 with 100 V1G charging points, under the same eligibility conditions.

Self-employed professionals and craftsmen: other alternatives to lighten your investment burden

You don't meet the criteria for the ADVENIR subsidy program or regional aid?

Do you own just one electric company vehicle for personal and/or professional use?

Tax credits are available for installing a home charging station as a private individual. The CIBRE (tax credit for recharging stations) has been extended until 2025, enabling you to benefit from a tax credit equivalent to 75% of of the cost ofinstalling a home charging station, up to a maximum of €300. If you prefer to apply as a professional, you will not benefit from the CIBRE. However, you can reclaim the VAT.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Installation is limited to one charging point per dwelling.
  • You must be domiciled in France for tax purposes.
  • You can be the owner, tenant or free occupant of your home (primary or secondary residence).

While businesses are not eligible for the reduced VAT rate for the installation of an on-site charging station, private individuals are. The reduced VAT rate of 5.5% applies to tenants, owners or free occupants of a principal residence (detached house or condominium apartment). The good news is that in 2023, the VAT reduction will no longer apply solely to homes completed more than two years ago. It applies to all homes !

Good to know: to benefit from the 5.5% VAT reduction, the installation of your charging station must be carried out by a IRVE-certified electrician.
