As a reminder, Waze is a community navigation application. It provides up-to-date, real-time information on road conditions and traffic to help users get from A to B more quickly.
It also offers features such as voice guidancethe suggested detours or alternative routesthe automatic rerouting based on live traffic data and the possibility of share traffic alerts and accidents with other drivers. So now, without using a smartphone, drivers can access real-time traffic information, favourite routes and saved destinations on the eye-level screen.
The first brand to take the plunge
Renault becomes the first electric car brand in Europe and the rest of the world to offer Waze as part of its infotainment system. One of the benefits, and not the least, is the option of leaving the vehicle's music oneven if Waze is activated.
The application is always usable by the driver and fully functional. This eliminates the need for USB cables or smartphone connectivity, which is often not very practical. The Waze application offers a number of advantages, including reduced journey times and fuel consumptionWaze will also help to improve traffic flow and provide information on nearby points of interest. With the integration of Waze into Renault vehicles, drivers can now take advantage of the convenience of using Waze only through the vehicle's infotainment system. This is sure to provide a more enjoyable and stress-free driving experience.
Accessibility made easy by Google Play
This new experience with Waze is available in European countries for all Austral electric customers and Mégane E-Tech equipped with the OpenR screen and the OpenR Link interface with integrated Google. The Waze application for Mégane e-Tech can be downloaded and installed from Google Play or from the My Renault mobile application.
Customers can use an existing account or create a new one to enjoy all the features offered by the application free of charge. Currently, the OpenR Link multimedia system also includes integrated Google functions such as Google Maps and Google Assistant. Renault has previously stated that its OpenR Link system supports many applications developed by third-party developers on Google Play.
