To speed up the transition to electric mobility and improve air quality, the government is encouraging companies to electrify their fleets. To this end, the Mobility Orientation Law (LOM) of 24 December 2019, which was implemented on 11 March 2021.
This law encourages companies with more than 100 vehicles and 50 employees to upgrade their fleets with electric vehicles and install charging stations every 3 years, over four deadlines:
The LOM law introduced other measures, including :
Crit'Air stickers in major cities.
Access for vehicles with a Crit'Air 1 to 3 sticker in Low Emission Zones (ZFE).
A ban on diesel vehicles in France in 2030.
Faced with this law, these electric vehicles need to be equipped with charging points. Buying charging points directly is not the only solution. You can also lease electric charging points: either under a LOA (lease with purchase option) or a LLD (long-term lease).
Whatever the type of rental, renting charging stations has a number of advantages:
Financially, leasing allows you to smooth out your budget and enjoy greater financial freedom. When you choose to lease, you pay your fixed monthly instalments and build up your budget with complete peace of mind.
Secondly, in the case of a leasing contract, the fact that you don't own the vehicle at the outset is also an advantage. As well as using a charging point, you'll be able to benefit from assistance and maintenance services. So there are no financial surprises. This is not the case with a lease, where you are responsible for everything, including breakdowns and repairs.
What's more, if your aim is not to use up your cash, you can count the rent as an expense in the balance sheet. When you calculate your gross profit, as soon as you increase your expenses, your net profit before tax will fall.
In the end, you'll pay less tax. It also reduces your company's debt capacity. In other words, you'll have much more freedom when it comes to accounting, and applying for loans, for example.
In the first case, the LOA is a leasing system that allows you to rent a charging point over 36 or 48 months. During this period, you benefit from the property. In return, monthly payments will be made to the lessor of the terminal. If you choose this type of lease, services such as maintenance and insurance for your bollards are included in your contract.
When the contract comes to an end, you can buy the charging point outright and become its owner. In this case, the residual value will be determined. This residual value corresponds to the value of the charging point, as estimated by the lessor, at the end of the contract. As the charging point has been leased and used over a long period, the residual value will be determined by the lessor. The purchase price will be a symbolic €1.
If you opt for a full service lease, you'll also be able to pay fixed monthly instalments, with maintenance and insurance included in the rental price.
What's more, as your business is likely to evolve over time, with a leasing contract you'll be able to change charging points to take advantage of new technologies.
When you apply for a lease with Beev, our advisers give you the option of whether or not to increase the initial deposit.
In this case :
Linear rent at 0 %: if you choose this method of financing, a fixed price will be payable each month according to the amount of the project.
Rent increased to 25 %
Rent increased to 35 %
If you choose this method of financing, you will have to make an initial deposit in the first month of the lease. This will be higher than in subsequent months. This will enable you to repay the costs of setting up the contract. So the higher the first month's rent, the lower the rent you will have to pay over the following months.
Please note: leasing charging points is not included in the ADVENIR bonus.

Generally speaking, leasing a charging point is not always easy. Most of the time, you have to go through several intermediaries and spend hours looking for the best solution for your project.
At Beev, we find you the best deals to suit your needs. So, throughout the entire process, you'll have a single point of contact to guide you, step by step, through your project.
Beev gives you all the information you need to rent a charging station successfully:
What's more, Beev can carry out any type of installation, as long as the total cost starts from €5,000, i.e. at least 1 charging point to be installed.
It's very easy to apply. Before making an initial contact with one of our Beev experts, we advise you to prepare the administrative documents for renting charging stations. All you need are 3 documents:
When your documents are ready, an initial contact will be made with one of our Beev experts. This person will be dedicated to your project, to understand your needs and give you the best possible guidance. After that, you will receive a reply within 48 hours in the form of a financing plan.
Once the project has been confirmed, an inventory of your fleet will be carried out. The specifications will then be studied to determine the feasibility of the project.
Finally, once all these stages have been completed, we can move on to the installation of the charging points.
If you have any questions after the project has been completed, you can contact our Beev experts on a dedicated telephone line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
No, it will not be possible to terminate your contract. The leasing of a charging point is binding and the end date of the contract is non-negotiable. If you wish to terminate the lease, you should be aware that there will be penalties.
If you want to buy a recharging point, this is a capital expenditure. The purchase of an asset is part of the CAPEX (Capital Expenditures), which includes investment expenditure. This expenditure is monitored in terms of Return on Investment (ROI). To give an example, if you have bought electric vehicles to electrify your vehicle fleetThis investment forms part of CAPEX. For this type of expenditure, it is advisable to anticipate how you will use your CAPEX, in order to have an overall view of your profitability.
If your aim is to grow your company over the long term, you may be interested in buying terminals.
When it comes to leasing charging points, this type of financing is completely different. In this case, we have what is known as theOPEX (Operational Expenditures). This covers all your company's day-to-day expenses, such as property costs, human resources and energy resources.
Leasing can be an attractive option if you want to focus on your operating costs and optimise your working capital requirements. Even if you don't own the terminal at the outset, the cost of the project will be much lower.
This means that leasing a charging point is a more flexible way of financing, with lower working capital requirements. With this form of leasing, all you have to do is take out a leasing contract for a charging point, for a limited period.
The choice between these two options therefore depends on the context, the health of your company and your objectives.
If you're not sure whether to buy or hire a kiosk, we invite you to contact our Beev experts.
So the choice between buying and leasing charging stationswill depend on a number of things:
If you need help in making your decision, don't hesitate to contact our advisers Beev.
