To find a charging point you have several options. You can use free applications:

  • Chargemap The charging stations: by being geolocated, the platform shows you a map of nearby charging stations. The charging points are also classified by colour, according to their charging speed. It's a community platform, with users able to post photos and leave comments. To simplify access to charging points and payment for charging, the Chargemap Pass badge is available without a subscription, so you only pay for what you use. 
  • Plugshare Plugshare: also a community-led platform, Plugshare offers geolocated charging points nearby. 
  • Westcharge You can also use the Ouestcharge website, an electric recharging network with a map showing normal, accelerated and fast charging points. This recharging network brings together 7 departmental energy associations, 4 of which are in Brittany: 

To recharge your electric vehicleThe OuestCharge network has set a unit price. This varies according to the type of charging station you use:

  • Normal terminal: €0.20 / kWh
  • Fast terminal: €0.30 / kWh 
  • Superchargers :
    • For the Tesla cars 0.46/ kWh
    • For other electric cars without a subscription: €0.68 / kWh
    • For other electric vehicles with a subscription: €0.45 / kWh

Please note: these rates apply to people who are registered with the networks of the departmental energy unions. Non-members must add an extra €1 per top-up.

As the 4 departmental unions are in partnership with Ouestcharge, the latter makes several charging points accessible. By subscribing to the Ouestcharge network, you will be able to use a single badge and access the 500 charging points throughout the region. Here are the steps: 

  • If you are a regular user, register for the service Westcharge depending on which department you live in.
  • If you use the region's charging points occasionally, you can download the Ouest Charge application free of charge, available at Google Play and theApp Store.
  • Once you are in your personal area, order your badge for easy access to the terminals. It will be sent to you within 5 days. 

Good to know: this badge costs €10 incl. VAT. Registration fees are not included. 

As mentioned above, the department's electric recharging is represented by the Finistère departmental energy union. Of the 277 communes in the department, 269 towns, including Brest and Quimper, benefit from the distribution of electrical energy by this syndicate.

Brest

In Brest, the Brest Métropole network provides charging points. According to ChargemapThere are 18 kiosks across the region.

Quimper

In the town of Quimper, the recharging stations are supported by the SDEF22. Here are the available terminals in the region : 

  • SDEF - Place de la Résistance, 4 Place de la Résistance et du Général de Gaulle
  • SDEF Quimper, Rue Rouget de Lisle 
  • SDEF Quimper, 16-20 Place de la Tourbie 
  • Best Western Hôtel Kregenne, 13 Rue des Réguaires 
  • Virta, 21 Bis Avenue de la Gare 
  • SDEF Quimper, 11 Rue Pierre Termier 
  • SDEF Quimper, Boulevard de Bretagne.

Since 2016, the SDE35 departmental union has been rolling out the Béa. This recharging network gives motorists access to more than 103 charging points in 80 towns and cities. The Béa network has now joined forces with Ouestcharge to provide wider access to charging stations. This alliance provides access to more than 500 charging points throughout the department. 

Rennes

The town of Rennes is gradually expanding its network of charging points. 

In Rennes, there are almost 110 charging points available in the town's private and public car parks. 

The charging points are accessible from the C-park underground car park. 

In this car park, you can recharge your vehicle free of charge, but pay for parking. 

You don't need a card or badge to activate the charging point. All you have to do is plug in your car using the charging cable. 

To ensure that all motorists have access to these terminals, please do not park for more than 12 consecutive hours. 

You can also charge your electric car on the road. These public charging points are fast terminals that meet the needs of beneficiaries.

Saint-Malo

In Saint-Malo, you can recharge your electric vehicle at 11 different charging points managed by the Syndicat d'énergie du département d'Ille-et-Vilaine (35).

The Ouestcharge platform has 6 charging stations:

  • Parking Des Bas Sablons, Rue de la Montre with 22 kW sockets (E/F-T3 and E/F-T2)
  • Rue Anita Conti
  • Boulevard de la Tour D'Auvergne 
  • Saint Vincent getaway 
  • Parking Godard, Rue Le Pomellec

In Morbihan, charging stations are managed by Morbihan énergiesthe departmental energy association. The purpose of this union is to objective to install 250 recharging points.

Valves

If you live in or want to travel to Vannes, an electric car will enable you to park for free on the road, for 1h30. 

To benefit from this free service, you will need to affix the green disc to the windscreen of your vehicle and provide proof (council tax and vehicle registration document) in the event of an inspection.

Lorient

Le Morbihan departmental energy unionis to deploy 250 charging stations. To achieve this objective, Lorient is planning to install charging stations in strategic locations, notably near shops, in the town centre and in business parks. These locations have been chosen to make recharging accessible to all. 

Here is a short list of charging points:

Electric recharging in the Côtes-d'Armor is managed by the Brev'Car network. According to the balance sheet for chargepoints in 2021This network covers the whole country:

  • 164 accelerated 22 kW charging points, providing a range of around 20 km in 15 minutes.
  • 8 fast 50 kW charging points, providing a full 150 km charge in at least 30 minutes.

Saint-Brieuc

If you own an electric vehicle, you've reached the charging point stage. To recharge your vehicle, anyone can install a charging point, whether you're a private individual, a local authority or a professional. 

To carry out your project, you first need to contact IRVE installer. According to decree no. 2017-26 dated 12 January 2017, charging points must be installed by an electrician who has undergone IRVE (Infrastructure de Recharge pour Véhicules Électriques) training.

The help ADVENIR is a grant that helps you to finance part of the project to install charging points. Depending on the type of beneficiary, the amount and rates of aid will be different. Here is a summary table:

Please note: ADVENIR does not fund the installation of charging points in private homes.

In addition to ADVENIR support, you can benefit from tax credit. This tax incentive, granted by the government, will enable you to reduce the cost of installing charging points, whether in a house or a condominium.

In terms of amount, the credit is equal to €500 per recharging system at a rate of 75% of the amount spent. It is available to everyone, regardless of income. 

Here are the conditions for taking advantage of the tax credit:

  • The expenditure must be incurred between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2025.
  • Live in France as an owner, tenant or free lodger.
  • Live as a primary or secondary residence. 
  • The tax credit is limited to 1 charging system for a single dwelling.
  • The expenditure must be incurred between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2025.

Please note: before taking any steps to install bollards, don't forget to ask your landlord for permission.

The amount of the tax credit for the installation of an electric vehicle charging point is :

  • 500 per charging system for a connected charging point
  • 300 per charging system for a non-connected charging point, with or without load shedding

For the companies : 

  • For private car parksfor heavy goods vehicle fleets: an aid rate of 50 % and a fixed amount between €2,200 and €960,000 excluding VAT,
  • For private car parks open to the public A rate of aid of 30 % and an amount set between €1,000 and €2,700 excluding VAT,
  • For car parks open to the public (intermediate target) A rate of aid of 30 % and an amount of €1,000 excluding VAT,
  • For fleets and employees of short-term hire companies A rate of aid of 20 % and an amount set at €600 excluding VAT.

IMPORTANT: these bonuses for charging points open to the general public in private car parks and for intermediate target groups (hotels, restaurants and shops), will be withdrawn from the ADVENIR programme on 1 August 2023.

Good to know: the Advenir programme offers new support for automotive service professionals, by entering into a partnership with Mobilians, an employers' organisation.
