The Centre-Val de Loire region is making significant strides in the field of electric mobility, with a growing number of electric vehicles in service. electric cars and plug-in hybrids. In May 2022, the region will have around 877 registrations of electric vehicles, the majority of which are passenger cars. Although this puts the region in 12th place nationally in terms of electrification per capita, it shows promising potential for growth.
As far as recharging infrastructure is concerned, the Centre-Val de Loire has 2,445 public charging pointsrepresenting approximately 95 charging stations per 100,000 inhabitants, placing it in the Ranked 6th nationally. The deployment of charging points has seen a significant increase of 42 % between March 2021 and March 2022, and a regional programme plans to install more than 700 new charging points in the near future. These efforts are supported by financial aid for the purchase of clean vehicles and the installation of recharging facilities, with the aim of making electric mobility more accessible and practical for everyone in the region.
In 2024, the Centre-Val de Loire region will continue to improve its network of charging points for electric vehicles. At present, the region has around 2,600 public charging pointsThis represents an increase on previous years. This translates into around 100 terminals per 100,000 inhabitants, placing the Centre-Val de Loire among the best-equipped regions in France, although further efforts are needed to catch up with the leaders.
The region has also launched an ambitious programme to install more charging stations in rural areas. By 2024, a target of 700 new terminals is set, as part of a global effort to meet the growing demand for electric mobility. This development is supported by government subsidies and local initiatives aimed at strengthening the recharging infrastructure and encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles by local residents.

For the installation of a recharging point, the region will subsidise 30% of the amount excluding tax, up to a maximum of €15,000.
In the Centre-Val de Loire region, there have been some recent changes to free parking for electric vehicles. In Tours, free parking for electric and hydrogen vehicles, introduced in 2019, came to an end on 1 July 2023. This decision was prompted by the increase in the number of electric vehicles and the loss of revenue for the city, leading to problems with vehicle rotation in the city centre..
However, since February 2024, the Orléans metropolitan area has introduced a new measure offering 15 minutes free parking once a day in the orange zones. This initiative aims to encourage the use of sustainable transport while facilitating access to the city centre..
In terms of charging stations, the region is continuing to expand its network, with around 2,600 recharging points accessible to the public by 2024, and a target of installing 700 new terminals to meet growing demand.
To install a recharging point in the Centre-Val de Loire region, here are the main steps to follow:
Evaluate your needs: Determine the charging power you need based on your vehicle and your usage habits.
Choosing the location: Identify a suitable spot for installation, whether in a private or public car park.
Use a professional: Installation must be carried out by an IRVE (Infrastructure de Recharge pour Véhicule Électrique) certified installer..
Obtaining authorisations: If you are in a condominium, you must obtain the agreement of the syndic or exercise your "right to take"..
Benefiting from grants :
For individuals: Tax credit of 75% of expenditure, capped at €500 per terminal (until 31 December 2025)..
For condominiums: ADVENIR aid covering up to 50% of the costs for a collective infrastructure.
For small independent service stations: State co-funding of 60 to 70% of the installation cost.
Carrying out the installation: Once you've obtained all the necessary authorisations and secured all the aid you need, go ahead with the installation with the chosen professional.
Check compliance: Make sure that the installation complies with current standards and that it is correctly connected to the electricity network.
Whether at work, in public or at home, having a connected recharging point can add value. Connectivity is an increasingly important part of our daily lives. Connected charging points are relatively expensive, but can be very profitable.
These terminals allow you to :
