Châteauroux is developing its charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The town has around 35 charging points spread across its territory, offering a practical solution for drivers of clean vehicles.
These charging points are installed in strategic locations to facilitate access to recharging, whether in town centres, near shops or on busy roads. In addition to these public charging points, Châteauroux is also encouraging the installation of private charging points, notably as part of its "Osons la transition" project. The aim of this community initiative is to raise awareness of the challenges of sustainable mobility and encourage residents to adopt more environmentally-friendly behaviour. The city supports private individuals and businesses wishing to install charging stations, by providing them with information and personalised advice.
Châteauroux currently has :
- 36 public charging points throughout the country, including 18 fast-charging stations (rated at over 43 kW).
- 2 free terminals accessible in certain strategic locations.
- Most of the charging points are equipped with Type 2 sockets, with extended compatibility thanks to the Chargelec 36 network and the Chargemap Pass.
Despite this infrastructure, the number of charging points is still limited to keep pace with the steady increase in sales of electric vehicles (EVs). The current network, with a charging point every 15 km or so in the département, is a promising start, but more needs to be done to support the ecological transition.
Installing new charging points and improving their accessibility remain priorities for local authorities and the Syndicat Départemental d'Énergie de l'Indre (SDEI), which manages a large part of the network. These initiatives are designed to support electric mobility and meet the growing needs of users.

The electric car market continues to attract many French people. There are several ways of powering your car: you can go to a recharging station, or you can opt to have an electric vehicle installed in your home. charging point at home. Let's take a look at this last point and its advantages.
At the moment, electric vehicles are still in full expansion, but many users are finding it difficult to find charging stations: either because there are no more spaces available, or because the charging system is not adapted to their vehicle.
The solution to this problem is to install a charging point directly in your home.
First of all, having a charging point at home means you can charge your vehicle freely. From home, you can charge your vehicle at any time and be free to go about your business.
This means you won't be dependent on charging stations in public car parks.
What's more, the charging point is still a safe bet in terms of safety. Charging stations are fitted with circuit breakers and switches. These elements protect and withstand particular conditions, such as the risk of the charging point overheating or potential short circuits. Its circuit breakers and differential switches will enable you to protect people and equipment.
In fact, we strongly advise against regularly recharging your electric vehicle using a standard 10 A socket, to avoid any risk of overheating the components and causing a fire.
Secondly, there are environmental reasons for installing a charging point. From your home, the charging points will enhance the value of your building or residence. This will attract potential buyers and tenants for future sales of the property.
In addition to having a charging point at home, if you install photovoltaic panelsYou'll be able to recharge your vehicle and use 100 % of the sustainable energy from these panels. So these actions represent an impact towards more sustainable mobility.
What's more, you should know that if the installation of charging points is suitable, Beev can install it for you. Don't hesitate to contact us!
