About the Opel brand

Opel was founded in 1862 by the German Adam Opel, but did not start producing vehicles until 1899. The group was a leader in Europe from the 1930s to the 1950s. Once under the control of General Motors, it was bought by the PSA Group in 2017 after a few difficult years. The takeover was a resounding success, allowing the German brand to regain its glory and benefit from PSA's major advances, particularly in terms of electric vehicles.
