Leapmotor is a Chinese car manufacturer specialising in electric vehicles, founded in 2015 and based in Hangzhou. The brand has distinguished itself by its in-house development of key components, such as electric motors. In October 2023, Stellantis invested €1.5 billion to acquire around 20 %s from Leapmotor. This agreement led to the creation of the joint venture Leapmotor International, majority-owned by Stellantis (51 %). Leapmotor International has exclusive rights to manufacture, export and sell Leapmotor products outside China. Stellantis will distribute Leapmotor vehicles through its network, starting with nine European countries in September 2024. The first two models to be distributed will be the T03 and the C10. Some Leapmotor models will be manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland. Leapmotor aims to market six electric models in Europe between 2024 and 2027 and plans to have 500 dealers in Europe by 2026.
