How do I recharge an electric car?
How long does it take to recharge an electric car?
It all depends on the charging point used and the capacity of your electric car's batteries.
In practice, the recharging time for an electric car battery can vary from 10 hours to half an hour.
Sure, it takes longer than filling up a conventional car. But in the future, with the development of new solutions, it may only take a few minutes.
What are the different types of plug?
There are exactly 6 types of socket:
- The household plug we all know!
- Type 1 plug used mainly in Asia
- Type 2 plugs now recognised as a European standard
- The type 3 socket, which is the old standard model in Europe
- The type 4 socket where there are two standards, the CHAdeMO socket which is a Japanese standard compatible with Asian models and the Combo socket which is the European standard.
Which charging point should I choose?
Your choice of charging point will depend on all these factors:
The electric vehicle you own
- the maximum charging power accepted by your vehicle?
How often the vehicle is used and recharged
- The distance you travel each day.
- The frequency of your top-ups
You can then choose from one of these charging stations:
- 3.7kW charging point: ~15km / hour recharge time
- 7.4kW charging point: ~30km / hour recharge time
- 11kW charging point: ~60km / hour recharge time
- 22 kW charging point: ~120km / hour charging time
What support is available for installing a charging point?
To install one or more recharging points, you have access to the following support:
- ADVENIR grants for the installation of charging points.
- Tax credit
- Help from local authorities
- VAT rate reduced to 5.5 %

Will the ADVENIR bonus change in 2023?
That's right, the ADVENIR programme has recently announced a new development.
On 1 August 2023, ADVENIR bonuses for recharging points open to the general public in private car parks, including intermediate targets (hotels, restaurants and shops), will be abolished.
Therefore, only signed premium applications before 1 August 2023 and before the limit of the dedicated budget of 5 million euros, will be taken into account by the ADVENIR programme.
