Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese car manufacturer founded in 1920. Before moving into cars, Mazda began by manufacturing corks used by the wine industry, which was booming in the Japanese archipelago at the time. It went on to manufacture machine tools, followed by its first car in 1931. It wasn't until 1960 that Mazda launched its first passenger car, the R360. In 1979, Ford became part of Mazda, creating a new alliance between the 2 continents. Mazda launched its first 100 % electric vehicle in 2020, with the MX-30, 100 years after its creation. As it moves towards the electrification of its vehicles, Mazda plans to transform a quarter of its combustion engine vehicles into 100 % electric vehicles by 2030. 13 new electric Mazda models will be launched in Europe and other continents by that date.
