Norway leads the way in electric vehicles
Recently theEV Readiness Index 2022 has been unveiled, a ranking of countries based on three points:

- The maturity of recharging infrastructures
- The total acquisition cost (TCO) of electric cars
Points are awarded for each criterion, resulting in a ranking showing the most mature countries in terms of the electric cars. Here are the top 3 of this 2022 report:

La Norway has topped the lists for another year, and has even become the first country in the world to have a market share of 20 % of electric cars on the road. Ever more ambitious, the Scandinavian country wants to ban internal combustion vehicles so that all new cars sold in 2025 will be zero-emission vehicles (electric or hydrogen). A ban is not considered necessary, since the market share of cars using fossil fuels is naturally falling.
France ranks a distant 11th, showing that we still have a long way to go in terms of the maturity of our electric car market.
Hyundai encourages this ecological transition
The Korean manufacturer is turning a corner for its brand, but also for the Norwegian market. Hyundai had already stopped selling thermal vehicles for two years, but from From 1 January 2023, the brand will no longer sell hybrids or plug-in hybrids.. In Norway, Hyundai's range of electric cars will include theHyundai Kona Electric, l'Hyundai Ioniq 6 and theHyundai Ioniq 5. It is also the ninth most popular electric car. the best-selling country in 2022 with 4,000 vehicles, in Norway.
Why did you take this decision? Quite simply to keep up with demand. In 2021, out of the 25,000 cars sold by Hyundai in Norway, 92 % were electric cars. We can therefore deduce that Norwegians drive electric cars because they want to participate in the country's ecological transition, with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions from cars.
What's more, as you know, winter can be harsher in the Nordic countries. However, Hyundai is asserting its position and making it clear that its electric cars, such as the Kona SUV or Ioniq 5 can be resistant to cold and remain useful on a daily basis.

Brands follow suit
Volkswagen would also like offer only electric cars in Norway from 1 January 2024. Like Hyundai, it was the behaviour of buyers that prompted this decision. At the beginning of 2022, of the 8,500 passenger cars sold by Volkswagen, 6,900 were electric. It is also worth noting that Volkswagen ID.4 was the second best-selling electric car in July 2022, with 4,960 sales since January 2022. We can expect other manufacturers to follow suit well before the thermal vehicles.
