If you live in the Île-de-France region, you may know better than we do that it has established itself as an undisputed leader in ecomobility in France. Although the region recently ended its direct aid scheme for the purchase of electric carsIt continues to actively promote sustainable mobility through the development of recharging infrastructures.
This has worked remarkably well, as the Île-de-France region is now the best equipped in terms of charging stations for electric vehicles in France. With 26,538 charging points deployed in its territory at the start of 2025, it is well ahead of the other regions. This impressive infrastructure represents around 17% of the national total of 154,694 publicly accessible charging points. As well as topping the national rankings, the region also boasts one of the highest densities of chargepoints, with 230 points per 100,000 inhabitants.
The region's commitment to ecomobility is also reflected in the diversity of the types of charging points available. Around 47% of the chargepoints are three-phase alternating current, offering up to 22 kW, while 18% are direct current, 10% of which offer ultra-fast charging of over 150 kW. This variety meets the different needs of users, from fast recharging on long journeys to slower recharging for everyday use.
The region's efforts are bearing fruit, as demonstrated by the significant increase in the number of electric vehicles on the road. Although we don't have specific figures for the Paris Region, we do know that at national level, the milestone of 2 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles was passed at the end of 2024. This trend is certain to accelerate, thanks in particular to carmakers' growing commitment to electric vehicles. Brands such as Renault with its Zoé, Peugeot with the e-208, or Tesla with its Model 3, are helping to democratise electric mobility in the region.
By 2025, Paris Region will be the leader in charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, with a total of 27,276 charging points, representing 18% of the French network.. Although the region dominates in terms of the total number of pay stations, the national average is 234 pay stations per 100,000 inhabitants.. In the Île-de-France region, sales of electric cars are expected to grow strongly in 2023, with an increase of 60% compared with 2022.. A large proportion of charging points are now located near shops (32%).

In 2025, free parking for electric vehicles in Paris underwent significant changes. Since 1 October 2024, electric vehicles weighing less than 2 tonnes have automatically been entitled to free parking throughout Paris, with no need to take any prior action or affix a parking disc.. Owners of these vehicles can park free of charge for 6 consecutive hours if they are visitors, and for up to 7 consecutive days if they are Parisian residents.. For foreign electric vehicles weighing less than 2 tonnes, prior registration is required to qualify for free admission.. However, electric vehicles weighing more than 2 tonnes are now subject to visitor parking charges, which vary from €12 to €18 per hour depending on the arrondissement..
Outside Paris, the "green disc" is still an option in some towns to get 2 hours free parking for clean vehicles.. As regards recharging, since 1 January 2025, car parks with more than 20 spaces in tertiary and commercial buildings have been required to equip at least 5% of their spaces with recharging stations.. Although free recharging is becoming rarer, some chains such as Intermarché, Super U and Carrefour (with conditions) continue to offer free recharging options in their car parks.. It's important to note that conditions can vary from town to town and from brand to brand, and it's advisable to check the specific terms and conditions at each parking or recharging location.
Whether you're a public institution, a business or a private individual in the Paris Region, it's essential to assess your needs before installing a charging point.
For businesses and public institutions in the Paris region, your future charging point will probably be used frequently by various types of vehicle over short periods. To meet this demand, we recommend that you opt for 22-100 kW fast-charging stations.. This will enable more efficient rotation of electric vehicles compared with 7.4 kW to 22 kW charging points.
For private individuals in the Paris region wishing to recharge their vehicle mainly at night, a 7.4 kW or 11 kW charging point will generally be sufficient..
The location of the charging point is crucial. For local authorities and businesses in the Paris region, the bollards will often be installed outdoors, on the road or in car parks. In this case, they must comply with specific safety standards to withstand impacts and bad weather. Bollards installed outdoors must meet at least IK08 and IP55 standards.
Whether at work, in public or at home, having a connected recharging point can add value. Connectivity is an increasingly important part of our daily lives. Connected charging points are relatively expensive, but can be very profitable.
These terminals allow you to :
Load shedding regulates the power drawn by the terminal according to the power available on your network.
Among other things, it becomes necessary on certain installations where the subscribed power is insufficient to support the consumption of the terminal. We recommend that you include this option, particularly if you are a private individual.
As with any installation of a recharging point in a company or local authority/public institution, you are entitled to assistance from ADVENIR.

There is no universal criterion that will enable you to choose your service provider with certainty. However, it is important to take at least one criterion into account: certification. To qualify for ADVENIR aid, the service provider responsible for the installation will have to be IRVE certified.
