What is a recharging point?

A charging point makes it easy to recharge your electric car. It can be fixed to the wall, making it safer and improving recharging speed.

What are the different types of recharging point?

There are different types of recharging point, offering different levels of power. If you want to recharge your electric car more quickly than a conventional socket, you can buy a Legrand Green'Up reinforced socket.

This equipment looks like a conventional outdoor socket, but has a power output of 3.2 kW, allowing you to regain around 200 kilometres of electricity.autonomy for one night.

For even faster recharging, the Wallbox SB Cooper is for you.

Operating in mode 3, this recharging pointdelivers 3 powers possible :

  • 7.4 kW,
  • 11 kW,
  • 22 kW

This type of charging is used with a Type 2 socket in alternating current (AC).

However, before embarking on a purchase, you need to identify two essential parameters:

  • What type of recharging do I want? Not connected, connected, slow or fast?
  • What size and type of electrical installation do you have at home? Because to get between 7 and 11 kW from a charging point, your electrical installation needs to be correctly sized.
For recharging your vehicle,
let us help you find the charging solution that's right for you.

Why install a recharging point?

The wall terminal is still the recommended solution for recharging your electric car. It can be installed in a private garage.

Let's take a look at the advantages, state support and disadvantages of a charging point :

Benefits

  • Safety : compared with a simple household socket, a charging point provides additional safety thanks to built-in protection devices.
  • Reloading : Recharging is the second advantage of the charging point. It allows an electric car to be recharged more quickly than a conventional socket or a reinforced socket.
  • Recognition: certain manufacturers such as Renault or BMW impose recharging on a Wallbox-type recharging device by simply not providing a cable for recharging on a traditional socket.
  • Variety of choice : There are many different models of Wallbox, with more or less similar functions and performance, such as the EVlink Wallbox or the Witty from Hager.
  • Valuation : the installation of a charging point enhances the value of a home, and therefore its price. What's more, if a house already has an outlet, this is a plus for future resale of the property.

State aid

  • State aid : The government has introduced a scheme to reduce the cost of installing a wallbox. It takes the form of a tax credit of 30 %
  • All owners: of a principal residence that acquires a recharging solution can benefit from the energy transition tax credit of a lump sum of 500 euros.
  • Multi-family buildings : are eligible for the 50 % available under the ADVENIR programmefor the supply and fitting of a recharging point for individual or collective use

Changes in eligibility conditions for individual charging points in apartment buildings :

From 1 August 2022, the eligibility conditions for individual charging points in collective residence change.

From now on, only T2S single-phase charging points will be eligible for the ADVENIR programme.

A quick reminder: the rate and amount of aid for this target remains unchanged. It is still equal to 50 % with a maximum amount of €960 excluding VAT per recharging point.

  • Paris City Hall : aid of 50 % of the cost of the work (€500 per charging point, maximum of 4 charging points), i.e. a maximum of €2,000 for social landlords or associations wishing to install charging points for residents or visitors.
  • Normandy : it is possible to reduce the cost of your installation work by charging stations if you buy an electric vehicle. The amount of aid is 30% of the amount excluding tax, up to a maximum of €15,000 per application for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

Inconvenient

  • Initial investment : une terminal pays for itself in less than 5 years, making it a sustainable investment that can even add value to your parking space.
  • Offer : ihe sheer number of offers can make it hard to find your way around.

How do I choose the right recharging point installer?

You've taken the plunge! You've bought your electric car and the next step on the horizon is the installation of your charging point. To make sure you're dealing with the right company for the purchase and installation of your charging point. Here are a few key points to make sure you're making the right choice:

  • A team of certified professionals: not just anyone can install charging points! The company you choose must work with a team of certified professionals (IRVE certification) to ensure proper installation and avoid problems.
  • A team that respects installation laws : just like a water heater or a heating system, the installation of a new charging point is subject to demanding standards that must be respected. If this is not the case, not only will the warranty on the device be void in the event of a problem, but you will probably have problems with your bollard.
  • A company that respects you and answers your questions: When you make a purchase like this, it's normal to have questions. A legitimate company will not only have plenty of information available on its website, but will also be able to answer any questions you may have. If a company dodges questions and answers only that it knows what it's doing... run, it's probably not certified to do the job.
  • Demonstrate transparency: Related to the previous point, you'll know you're dealing with a good company if it's transparent. In other words, they explain the process to you from A to Z, from quotation to installation to after-sales service. The company will provide you with all the details of your purchase as well as its warranty, and will be on hand in the event of any post-installation problems.

Who are the best recharging point installers?

Having given you a few essentials, all that's left to do is choose the charging point installer that's right for you.

To achieve this, Beev has a large network of IRVE-certified installers. Depending on your project, we will select the technician who will carry out your bollard installation project.
