For recharging your vehicle,
let us help you find the charging solution that's right for you.

When Lidl starts selling charging cables...

We are seeing more and more supermarkets taking an interest in electric mobility, installing free charging pointsfor the most part. What's more, the e-station" recharging station with power ranging from up to 360 kWwas recently installed in Tourcoing (Nord) on 27 November 2022. This new recharging station makes it the most powerful station in terms of power delivery.

After the bollards, it's time for tower of charging cables to make their debut at Lidl in Germany. In its home country and in Austria, Lidl had already tested the sale of electric vehicles, in collaboration with Like2Drive. It may seem strange, but Lidl is generally a chain that offers unusual products, unlike other chains. And they're a great marketing coup.

What are the features of this Lidl charging cable?

Now that this charging cable is on the market, what are its features? Are they compatible with all electric vehicles? What power does it deliver?

Here are a few things you need to know about this charging cable:

  • Type 2 socket
  • maximum charging capacity: 22 kW
  • three-phase (32 A)
  • dimensions: 5 m long
  • price: €129

In terms of price, this is well below what the market leaders and the manufacturers of electric cars offer: the price of the Lidl charging cable is only 129 €You'll have to pay at least €200 for a cable elsewhere.

The charging cable is compatible with both 100 % electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

In conclusion

Lidl's range of products and services puts it head and shoulders above its competitors. These products and services have been designed for consumers looking for charging cables or charging points at lower prices than the manufacturers.

What's more, the fact that many supermarkets are starting to offer top-up products and servicesThis clearly shows that the electric mobility market is becoming more popular and accessible to many people.

The use and price are more attractive, but consumers still need to be convinced about the value for money of this recharging ecosystem that Lidl is currently building.

As mentioned above, this charging cable is only available in Germany and in the border area across the Rhine. But it's likely that this product will be available in France.
