Honda e vs Fiat 500 e: Performance
In terms of powertrains, the two models offer two different engine options. The Honda e is faster, with a 113 kW (154 hp) electric motor developing up to 315 Nm of torque.
The Honda e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, with a top speed of 145 km/h in the "Advance" trim level. The second, much humbler trim level is equipped only with a 100 kW (136 hp) engine.
The electric Fiat 500 e is offered alongside conventional petrol engines. It is powered by an 87 kW (118 hp) motor, the torque of which has not yet been announced by the brand. This dynamic city car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds and from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 150 km/h. Three driving modes are available: Sherpa, Range and Normal.
Will Italy's new electric city car get an Abarth version? Like the standard Fiat 500, will the new electric 500 e benefit from a sporty Abarth version? It could be a more aggressive version. With an engine boosted to 160 or 180 hp. For the moment, nothing on the horizon.
Honda e vs Fiat 500 e: Autonomy and Recharging
In terms of range, both city cars are predestined for urban driving. However, the Fiat 500 e 's range could come close to that of the electric SUVs on the market. The Fiat 500 e shows its versatility by covering both short and long distances. The city car promises 320 km of range according to the WLTP cycle.
The lithium-ion battery of the electric Fiat 500 e has a capacity of 42 kWh, one of the best in its category. The Fiat 500 e features a Combo CCS connector located on the right rear fender. This allows rapid DC charging at up to 85 kW.
Under these conditions, the charging time is 35 minutes to go from 0 to 80% battery. The vehicle can also charge in alternating current up to 11 kW. On a standard household socket, it takes around 16 hours to fill up the tank. On a Wallbox 7.4 kW, the time is reduced to around 6 h, while on an 11 kW terminal, it's just 4 h.
While the race for autonomy reigns among its competitors, the Honda e doesn't give in to the trend. Resolutely urban, the little Japanese electric car makes do with a 35.5 kWh battery pack. Integrated under the floorboard, it provides up to 220 kilometers of WLTP range.
When it comes to recharging, the Honda e remains reasonable. Limited to a capacity of 6.6 kW, the on-board charger is complemented by a Combo connector tolerating up to 100 kW peak power. According to Honda, 30 minutes are enough to recover 80% of energy.
Dimensions and weights
In terms of dimensions, the two city cars are not in the same league. The Honda e comes out ahead of the Fiat 500 e in terms of size, with 25 cm separating them in length, the Fiat 500 e measuring 3.64 metres and the Honda e 3.89 metres.

What's more, the Honda e offers slightly more trunk space than the Fiat 500 e, with 171 liters compared to its Italian rival's 185 liters. Nonetheless, the two models are equal in terms of seating capacity, with 4 seats each.
Interior design
Inside, both models are perfectly suited to the needs of a city car, and much more besides!
If the Honda e is surprising from the outside, this little Honda is just as surprising from the inside. We've lost count of the number of screens on the dashboard.
There's one behind the steering wheel for driving information, a double screen displaying information from the multimedia system and on-board computer (range, charging time, nearby stations), two at either end of the dashboard showing images from the rear-view cameras, and one that has taken the place of the rear-view mirror.
A futuristic ambience to which Honda has added some typically Japanese details, such as the wood inserts on the dashboard.
On the Fiat 500 e, the dashboard has undergone a renaissance. The layout combines retro and modern elements. A large 10.25-inch touchscreen is located in the center, replacing many of the controls. The instrumentation is also digital, but retains its round cap.
There are also nods to the past with the two-spoke steering wheel and the storage hole in the center console. There's also the disappearance of the body-colored fascia, which will be replaced by a thin, body-colored surround and a decorative fascia that will offer a choice of different looks. Finally, the air vents will now be very discreet.
Honda e vs Fiat 500 e: Availability and Price
The Honda e has been available since summer 2019, starting at €41,270 in "Advance" trim for its 113 kW version (excluding environmental bonus). With a first wave of deliveries during this spring 2020 throughout Europe.
As for the Fiat 500 e, which was officially presented on March 4, 2020, the electric Fiat 500 e is available. It is offered in several editions:
