Indeed, this segment saw a strong model expansion in 2016 with the entry of the first electric SUV in Europe. At that time, when Tesla introduced the first-generation Model X to the market, there were still few manufacturers believing in electric SUVs. What's the difference between an electric and a combustion SUV?

1. Tesla Model X
First launched in 2015, the Model X is one of the Californian company's flagship vehicles, distinguished from other Tesla models by its upward-opening "Falcon" doors.
The Tesla Model X is an electric SUV starting at €114,490 in its first trim level, with room for up to 6 people and their luggage. In fact, the Tesla Model X has a cargo volume of 2,492 liters.
Equipped with a 95 kWh battery, the Model X achieves a range of 576 km without any problems in the WLTP cycle in its first trim level. What's more, four-wheel drive gives it enormous performance, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds in its first trim level, compared with 2.6 seconds in Plaid trim.

2. Hyundai IONIQ 5
In 2021, theHyundai IONIQ 5 makes its first public preview at the EVER Monaco show.
This 100% electric SUV, the first member of the IONIQ family, is based on the Korean group's international modular electric platform (E-GMP). This platform, also found in the Kia EV6, optimizes the electric vehicle's driving performance, range and recharging capabilities.
With a length of 4,635 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, and a height of 1,605 mm, this electric SUV offers an " Affirmed, Iconic, Clean" design. The interior is spacious, with a flat floor and comfortable, reclining seats. To make the most of this interior experience, the driver has a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, fully touch-sensitive, with 12.3-inch digital meters as well.
To recharge the IONIQ 5, it will take 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100% with 11 kWh of power, and just 16 minutes for an accelerated DC charge from 10 to 80% with 175 kWh of power.

SUVs and crossovers, the heirs of the 4×4, are increasingly appealing to motorists thanks to their practicality and modern design. Although they are often confused and lumped together in the same automotive segment, SUVs and crossovers do have their differences:
- Electric SUVs are a cross between a 4×4 and an MPV. They are often equipped with four-wheel drive. They often belong to a higher range and give priority to comfort,
- Electric crossovers, meanwhile, as their name suggests, mix genres. They are defined as 4×4s, but are based on sedan architecture. They therefore offer a little less space and are less adventurous,
- Electric minivans are vehicles that focus above all on the quality of their living space. They are spacious and comfortable, and can carry up to seven people or store numerous objects via its folding bench seat. That's why they're known as family cars.
