How do you go about installing recharging stations on your employees' premises?

What benefits and taxes apply to company charging stations for employees?
Deductible VAT: the company can reclaim VAT on the purchase and installation of the charging station.
Amortization: the cost of the charging station can be amortized over several years.

For the employee :
Exemption from taxes and social security contributions: the benefit in kind linked to the provision of a charging station is exempt from taxes and social security contributions up to 50%, capped at €1,800 per year.

Employee charging stations: how to choose the right ones?
To find the right charging station, you need to know what your employee really needs. Here are a few criteria to help you make your choice.
The routes
One of the most important criteria is the employee's use of the electric vehicle.
If he uses his electric vehicle mainly for short everyday journeys, such as :
- Drive the few kilometers to your premises.
- Everyday travel.
In this case, a simple 7.4 kW charging station will do the trick.
Another criterion to take into account that directly concerns the electric vehicle is the maximum current it can receive!
Not all electric vehicles accept the same charging power. So don't get a charging station that delivers a higher charging power than the vehicle's capacity. The most popular charging stations for employees and private customers are those delivering 7.4 to 11 kW. For 11 kW charging stations, the home must provide a three-phase power supply, which is not the norm. All vehicles are compatible, most of the time with an option for an 11 kW terminal, and they are suitable for all types of user.
Protection standards
Depending on the space available for the charging station, you'll need one that meets a number of criteria and protection standards.
This is for your staff, especially if they want to install an outdoor charging station. Obviously, when we talk about electronic devices and the outdoors, we inevitably think of the risks associated with rain. As we all know, water and electricity don't mix. That's why it's so important to install a charging station that meets safety standards guaranteeing sufficient protection against heavy rain and impact. To install an outdoor charging station, it must at least meet IK08 and IP54 standards.

Charging stations with load shedding

The installation of the bollard must meet an observed need. Consideration should be given to :
- the use to which the vehicle will be put to adapt the choice of terminal
- the employee's home to avoid opting for a charging station that is incompatible with the electrical installation.

The installation process will therefore take place in four stages:
- Choose the location for the bollard (indoor or outdoor) according to the type of dwelling.
- Choose the type of charging station to be installed: normal or accelerated charging point (7.4 to 22 kW), depending on your needs and the power supplied by your home (single-phase or three-phase).
- Installation of the bollard by an IRVE-qualified service provider, to gain access to ADVENIR assistance if the installation is in a condominium.
- Commissioning the terminal
ADVENIR, which stands for "Aide au Développement des Véhicules Électriques grâce à de Nouvelles Infrastructures de Recharge" (Support for the development of electric vehicles through new recharging infrastructures), is a grant designed to finance part of the work involved in installing recharging stations.
The ADVENIR subsidy covers up to 50% of the cost of supplies and installation of individual charging infrastructure in apartment buildings, up to a maximum subsidy of 960 euros. It's important to remember that to qualify for the ADVENIR bonus, you'll need to work with an installer who has been awarded the IRVE label, and who complies with a set of standard specifications.

This is known as rebilling to the employer.
You can take charge of all your energy costs.
How does it work?
It's very simple: a recharging operator will collect the history of your recharges, including your energy expenditure and how much this represents on the bill. To do this, you'll need to add a MID-certified meter, which will enable you to be billed for the electricity consumed by the charging station. This meter costs between 80 and 100 euros, to be added to the quote.
They will then send the data to the employer to find out how much to reimburse.
If your employee decides to terminate his or her contract with you, you may well wonder whether it's possible to get your terminal back.
Since this is not a benefit in kind, it is considered a company car and belongs to the company.
However, should you wish to reclaim the terminal, your ex-employee may claim compensation from you.
Compensation for the installation and dismantling of your charging station, which will leave holes in your home. He can also demand that you restore his home to its original state, i.e. as it was before the installation work.

Installing a terminal on an employee's premises is no more complicated than installing one on a private home. Logically, your employee will only need one terminal, which limits the risks. However, you should not overlook the information required for installation.
You don't need to install a charging station with a power rating higher than the power delivered by the home. If this is the case, opt for a charging station with load shedding to avoid blowing the fuse in your home.
This installation should give your employees greater peace of mind when it comes to recharging their vehicles.
The price of a charging station depends on a number of factors, including its use, power, installation work and location.
