About Opel
Opel was founded in 1862 by the German Adam Opel, but did not start producing vehicles until 1899. The group was the European market leader from the 1930s to the 1950s. Once under the control of General Motors, it was bought by Groupe PSA in 2017 after a few difficult years. The takeover was a resounding success, enabling the German brand to regain its glory and benefit from PSA's major advances, particularly in terms of electric vehicles.
