NIO EC7: the Chinese electric SUV with incredible performance

As part of the NIO 2022 day, the Chinese start-up presented its new model NIO EC7an SUV coupe and the next generation of its electric SUV the NIO EC6. But of course it's the Asian brand's newborn EC7 that we're going to focus on today. Its great strength lies in the fact that it boasts some pretty impressive features, capable of competing with electric cars cars in its range, such as the Q8 e-Tron d'Audi and the Polestar 3. NIO took the opportunity to present its outlook and ambitions for future projects.

The model is based on the brand's latest second-generation platform. There's a clear intention to focus on the customer experience, with an emphasis on design, performance, comfort, on-board technology, safety and durability.

Autonomy that will make competitors blush

As we delve deeper into the specifics of the electric vehicle, it's impossible not to be struck by one feature. Thanks to Lidar (a mini radar integrated into the vehicle, which uses pulsed light to measure the distance of an object from its target) on the roof, it can even be driven hands-free.

A multitude of offers to suit all budgets

In terms of pricing, including battery, entry-level prices are around 65,000 euros, while the most expensive version costs around 77,000 euros. Both models include rechargeable batteries. However, drivers can opt for a purchase that does not include these batteries, of course, they won't be able to benefit from the great range possible with theEC7 can offer.

For the European market, entry-level prices are around 56,000 euros or 60,350 euros for both versions with a large battery. Monthly battery rental is even available, 132 euros or 225 eurosdepending on which variant of theEC7 from NIO.

Another available option offered by the manufacturer at the time of purchase, a panoramic roof 2 square meters with electro-chromic glass that darkens at the touch of a button. An option that greatly enhances passenger comfort.

Although the the vehicle is not yet available in Europe (available in May 2023). With the arrival of this 100% electric SUV, Chinese electric vehicle brands (such as Aiways, Polestar) are showing that they are fully capable of competing with models from Europe's leading manufacturers (Renault Megane e-tech or Kia EV6 for example).
