The benefits of installing charging stations in your hotel
Earn money
This can help you amortize the cost of the charging station. It takes around 2 to 3 years to recoup the cost of installing a charging station by charging users (at €0.40/kWh, which corresponds to the average market price).
Raise your profile
Benefit from better internet referencing.
Your charging stations will be visible on Google and Apple search engines, and even on the manufacturers' search engines.
Build customer and employee loyalty
Stay competitive by offering more services than your competitors.
For example, customers with electric cars will be more likely to return to your establishment.
Electric vehicles are taking over our roads. Today, all carmakers either already offer electric vehicles or are planning to do so. In fact, electric cars accounted for 10% of the new car market in 2022. One year later, electric cars are on the rise in France, with a share of 13% in January 2023. So it's vital for your hotel to stay one step ahead of the competition. By offering recharging, your hotel can attract more guests, appeal to affluent customers who spend more, and establish your brand as a player committed to sustainable development.
By investing in electric vehicle charging stations today, and exploiting the crucial role of the hotel industry in today's energy transition from transport to electric vehicles, hotels will attract tomorrow's customers.

A useful resource for installing kiosks in hotels
Have a question about our services? Perhaps we already answered already answered it!
Yes, according to Deloitte, 95% of business travelers think that hotels should invest more in renewable energies.
Even if not all customers will use your charging stations because they don't yet have electric vehicles, they will value your efforts, and you will enjoy the image of a company that works in favor of sustainable development and ecology.
Yes, by deciding to deploy charging stations in your establishment, you open the door to a high-end clientele.
Indeed, electric vehicle users are a target with strong purchasing power. This can be explained by the price of electric vehicles, whose owners are committed to the environment and willing to pay the price to meet their commitments.
Among the benefits mentioned, one mentioned that charging stations can help you increase revenue.
While some hotels offer refills to guests, you can also charge for them to supplement your income.
As a hotel manager, you have 2 options:
You can charge refills per session with a flat rate, per time, or per kWh of electricity consumed. There's no fixed rule, so you make your own rules based on what's best for you and your customers.
- Time-based invoicing allows you to penalize drivers who remain connected to a terminal when they have already filled up.
- Billing per kWh means that vehicles with slower recharging speeds are not penalized.
When it comes to invoicing for charging station use, you have several options. You can either have it billed manually, or have it automated via the supervision system.
A kiosk supervision system provides data feedback for automatic billing of users. (Recharging history, consumption, displaying the status of free or occupied terminals, defining tariffs and managing invoicing, geolocation...)
Of course, you can also offer recharging at your charging stations, depending on the strategy you wish to adopt.
Recharging stations in your hotels represent a financial and marketing gain. Your CSR policy and compliance with future measures will be satisfied by installing charging stations in your hotel!
If you can't analyze your customers' vehicles, you can analyze their behavior.
By coming to the hotel, your customers are more likely to park for more than 2 hours and charge their vehicles at night.
Hotel chains such as Hilton have chosen to partner with Tesla and its network of superchargers, or with other American charging station experts, to equip their hotels. The aim is to offer their guests several recharging solutions.
Today, Marriott hotels, for example, are equipped with several types of kiosk in several hundred hotels. These kiosks are strategically placed to meet the needs of the group's customers.
In short, you have several options for recharging your customers.
- Slow recharging: recovers around 20 km/hour
It's a good start, but this type of recharging may frustrate some customers, who will have to wait a long time before they can collect their car.
- Accelerated recharging: recovers up to 50 km/hour
This type of refill is highly appreciated by users, and can open doors to more occasional customers (lunches or night outings) who won't be staying overnight.
For this type of refill, it's more profitable to charge for it.
There's little point in setting up only very powerful charging points. For those who want to charge their vehicles overnight, they'll occupy the charging point for a long time without needing to. For this type of situation, a more average charging point will do the trick. On the other hand, for customers who are just passing through, a more powerful charging station will be a must.
The kiosks installed in hotels are divided into 3 AC power levels:
- 7 kW single-phase
- 11 kW and 22 kW three-phase
Range regained per hour :
7 kW: 30-40 km
11 kw: 60-70 km
22 kW :100-120 km
Alternating current (AC) charging: Alternating current is the current that flows through the electrical grid. However, an electric vehicle's battery can only store electricity in direct current (DC).

The price of a charging station varies according to model, brand and power. But generally speaking, the cost of a charging station is 2 to 5 times less than the cost of installation.
The cost of installation increases according to a number of parameters, including the cable distance between the bollard and its power supply connection point, potential trenches to be dug, and electrical panels to be installed.
The firm price of a bollard installation is based on a technical study. We recommend that you aim for safety and have the study carried out by IRVE-certified installers. You can ask us to carry out a technical study of your project.
All our installers are IRVE-certified and experts at the cutting edge of their field.
RFID card control will enable you to collect DATA and bill your customers.
We recommend you opt for a Wallbox with 2 charge points. The cost of installation and maintenance will ultimately be lower than opting for 2 Wallboxes with 1 charge point.
As you can see, choosing the right charging station is an important decision, because a hotel does not have the same needs and customers do not behave in the same way as when charging in a shop or in the city, and so on. Investing in charging stations certainly has a cost, which can be amortized more easily if the hotel charges for recharging.
The terminal must be installed by a professional who has IRVE(Infrastructure de recharge pour véhicules électriques) certification.
Installation costs include :
- the price of the chosen terminal, which depends on several factors: number of terminals, charging power (3.7 kW, 7.4 kW, 11 kW, 22 kW), 1 or 2 sockets
- price of electrical installations: cable supply to bollards, installation of a circuit breaker, creation of an external cabinet, installation of a cable tray on the wall, meters of cable to be laid...
- Civil engineering costs: road markings, painting of parking spaces, creation of an anchoring base for bollard supports, asphalt trenches for cable routing or topsoil trenches for bollard supply, installation of bollard protection pins,
- 3-year maintenance contract, mandatory to obtain an Advenir bonus
Each installation is unique, as it depends on the specific needs and location of the bollards.
Hence the need to carry out a technical study in order to establish a firm price that corresponds to an à la carte service.

Installing a charging station allows you to benefit from the ADVENIR subsidy. To qualify for the ADVENIR subsidy, you'll need to take out Supervision, Subscription and Maintenance options. You'll also need to call in an IRVE-qualified electrician, and comply with specifications specific to each type of installation.
Here are the bonus amounts:
Target | Total rate of aid | Ceiling (excl. VAT per recharging point) |
Private parking lot open to the public with up to 5 charging points, less than or equal to 36 kVa and not part of a charging network project | 30 % | 700 excl. tax + €300 excl. tax surcharge for supervision = €1,000 excl. tax |
When it comes to administrative formalities, our Beev experts take care of everything for you!
ATTENTION:
On August 1, 2023, ADVENIR incentives for recharging points open to the general public in private parking lots, including intermediate target groups(hotels, restaurants and shops), will be abolished.
As a result, only premium applications signed before August 1, 2023, and before the dedicated budget limit of 5 million euros, will be taken into account by the ADVENIR program.
